According to our estimates, 32% - 35% of

Sephardic or Mizrahi.

What is SAMi?

SAMi: Sephardic American Mizrahi Initiative is a national 501c3 organization that focuses on college campuses that have a large Sephardic and Mizrahi student-population. SAMi aims to serve their needs and support them while they are going through college in their formative years by giving them access to resources and consultations. SAMi aspires to transform the Jewish community across North America to be more inclusive, representative, and diverse.


Our Story

Who are SAMi participants?

Our SAMi students on campus include people from (or whose families come from) Middle East, North Africa, Iran, South America, and Central Asia: Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Morocco, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Spain, South Africa, Israel, Ethiopian, Yemen, and more.
